Since 1992, the intrepid Fishpeople have been the essence of the bluegrass-ish sound. This San Francisco-based band seamlessly crafts a good-time gumbo of bluegrass, blues, swing, ragtime, honky-tonk, early rock+roll, cowboy, jazz, western-swing, Appalachian, New Orleans and more. And audiences can’t help notice that these top musicians are having a ball while they are playing. Folks of all ages will be tapping their toes when JimBo Trout and the Fishpeople are playing! With a songbook over 400 songs deep and personality to spare, JimBo Trout and the Fishpeople perform regularly for dances, restaurants, weddings, house concerts, children’s events, nightclubs, cafes, funerals, and parties.
JimBo has lead The Fishpeople since 1992 with his hard, fast picking on the guitar and banjo, raw lead vocals, and wry wit. Along the way JimBo has also worked with Trout’s Rustic Revelers, Trout’s Jug Thumpers, and The Van Trout Family Singers, among others. He hosts the monthly bluegrass jam at The Atlas Cafe (since 1998).
Greg Laakso is one of the swingingest horn players around. His clarinet and saxophone work with The Chazz Cats will not soon be forgotten.
Annie Staninec is one of the most exciting young fiddlers on the scene today. Whether it be bluegrass, gypsy jazz, or Hillbilly Bebop-Boogie, Annie is known for her fast, fiery improvisations. And she always looks like she’s having such a great time! Annie has been a member of such Bay Area groups as Dark Hollow, All Wrecked Up , and Donner Mountain Bluegrass Band, among others. Currently she tours with N. Carolina bluegrass band Town Mountain.
